Why Chris Pratt is an odd choice for the Japanese-Italian Plumber.

On the recent Nintendo Direct, the creator of the Super Mario Franchise Shigeru Miyamoto announced the company’s plans for a Super Mario Movie.
Very few details were released with the exception of the cast. The announcement is where we found out about Chris Pratt becoming the voice of Mario.
Yes. Star-Lord is suddenly the voice of Super Mario…Why? We shared our thoughts on the most recent episode of the podcast, but all I can say for now is this.
We have to wait and see if the selection of Chris Pratt can work. Charles Martinet is literally available so getting Chris Pratt feels weird. Personally, I’d much rather have Charles Martinet take the starring role he deserves.
The choice of Pratt isn’t surprising though because Hollywood loves to use non-voice actors into voice acting roles for instant recognition. I get it. Money works so I understand that but when fans today are more aware of the voices of our childhood, those voices deserve wider recognition.
What do you think of the choice of Chris Pratt as Super Mario? Will he sound like Mario from the first live-action movie or like Captain Lou Albano? What do you think of the other casting choices?
